DATAway! DAT Tape File Transfer
While transferring files over traditional communication lines is convenient, it
may not always be the most efficient way of moving data within your data processing
enterprise.
DATAway! allows Unisys users the ability to exchange files between
a Unisys A Series mainframe and a PC via DAT (digital audio tape).
DATAway! has the unique ability to append information that is written
to a tape by a Unisys mainframe. Many of our customers that routinely backup the
same type of information (such as printerbackup files) are adding/appending to the
same DAT tape media day after day. This appending capability saves both media costs
and storage space.
Another benefit of creating a tape backup utilizing DATAway! is that the DAT tape
media becomes a standard media for transferring information bi-directionally between
your Unisys A Series mainframe and your PC or LAN environment.
Additionally, DATAway! is very efficient. By utilizing DATAway!, a user can also
access any file, on any PC DAT drive, in less than two minutes.
